Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) Demonstration

Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) Demonstration

An exhibit sponsored by the Office of Nuclear Safety and Incident Response (NSIR)

This presentation displays Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) tactical equipment used during NRC Force-on-Force inspection exercises and shows an example of a tabletop diorama typical of those used at licensee sites during an inspection.

MILES equipment is used as a training tool to aid the licensee in evaluating the protective strategy of their facility. Mock adversary and licensee responder forces outfitted with MILES harnesses, helmet halos, and blank firing weapons are used to conduct safe exercises. The MILES equipment uses redundant systems to ensure the safety of personnel engaged in the exercises.

Designed as a self-guided tour, the exhibit will be on display in the Forest Glen meeting room and also in an exhibit vehicle located in the hotel parking lot just outside of the lower level conference center entrance during the following dates and times:
